Figures released by the European Statistical Office in Brussels indicated that in June 2024, total market production in both the European Union and the euro area decreased by 0.3% compared to the previous month.
According to the same source, the Total Market Production Index (TMPI) is a composite indicator that combines 4 short-term trade statistical indicators covering most of the market economy, namely production in industry, construction, trade and services.
Compared to the same month of the previous year, total market production decreased by 0.6% in the European Union and by 0.7% in the euro area. In the European Union, this was linked to a decrease in industrial production (-3.3%), trade (-1.0%) and construction (-0.2%), while service production increased (+1.0%)
