Libya: The United Nations stresses the need for a comprehensive process to overcome political and security divisions through dialogue and consensus

The Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, stressed the need for a comprehensive process facilitated by the United Nations political mission in Libya in order to overcome political and security divisions through dialogue and consensus. According to the UN daily news bulletin, a copy of which we received on Tuesday morning.
The bulletin added that the UN official's statements came during her meetings held on Sunday in Tripoli, where she met with the President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, and his deputies, Abdullah Al-Lafi and Musa Al-Koni, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher Al-Baour.
In the daily press conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said that DiCarlo held a meeting yesterday, Monday, in the city of Benghazi with the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.
He added that the UN official also held meetings with representatives of civil society, youth, and women's groups, during which she stressed the importance of a free and open civilian space, as well as national reconciliation in Libya.
