A statement distributed in Brussels, the capital of the European Union, and we received a copy of it, stated: "The G20 leaders met in Rio de Janeiro on 18 and 19 November 2024, to address major global challenges and crises and promote strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.
In the city that is the cradle of the sustainable development agenda, the leaders affirmed their commitment to building a just world and a sustainable planet, giving priority to combating inequality in all its dimensions, without leaving anyone behind.
The Rio de Janeiro Leaders' Declaration sets out actions to achieve tangible results, based on the priorities of the Brazilian G20 presidency: (a) social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty; (b) sustainable development, energy transitions and climate action; and (c) reforming global governance institutions.
The document also enshrines the achievements of the Brazilian presidency throughout the year, such as the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, the Task Force on Global Mobilization Against Climate Change, and the Call to Action on Global Governance Reform.
It is worth noting that the European Union is participating in the summit as a united group and also through member states of the unified bloc
