NATO Secretary General in Turkey Monday, then to Greece .. as part of a tour of member states' capitals to discuss the situation in Ukraine and defense spending

On Monday, November 25, 2024, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will travel to Ankara, Turkey. According to a statement issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels, Mr. Rutte will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler.
The Secretary General will meet with representatives of the Turkish defense industry and visit facilities of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). He will also lay a wreath at the Atatürk Mausoleum.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will travel to Athens, Greece.
Mr. Rutte will meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Foreign Minister Giorgos Geragos Kasparov, and Defense Minister Nikolaos Dendias. Following the talks in the afternoon of the same day, there will be joint press statements by the Secretary General and the Prime Minister of Greece.
Rutte continues his tours, which began after he assumed office at the beginning of last month, to coordinate positions between member states on many international and regional issues in light of current developments, especially those related to the Russian war on Ukraine and also the defense spending file of NATO countries, according to multiple sources in Brussels, where the alliance is headquartered.
