A statement issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels said that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will participate in the meeting of the Defense Contact Group for Ukraine at Ramstein Air Base in Germany today, Thursday, January 9, 2025.
According to the statement, "The meeting will be hosted by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown."
The statement corrected what was previously stated in a statement by the alliance on the same day, and the new statement said, "The Secretary General will not travel to the headquarters of NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) in Wiesbaden, Germany," and also included a reference to the cancellation of the Secretary General's press conference scheduled for this evening after the end of the meeting.
