Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The capitals and urban areas of the European Union are distinguished by attracting the largest number of minds and talents. According to the European Statistical Institute Eurostat, there are about 80 million highly skilled workers in the Union, constituting 44% of the workforce aged between 25 and 64 years. This category includes managers, technicians and employees, i.e. all those who live off their professional experience and cognitive skills in general.
The European news network in Brussels "Euronews" said that talents are concentrated, according to the statistics, in regions of Northern Europe. Stockholm ranked first with 74%, followed by Utrecht in the Netherlands (69%), then Luxembourg (67%) and Brabant and Wallonia in Belgium, then Copenhagen and Prague with about 66%. Rural areas and former industrial areas recorded the lowest percentage. In contrast, there are 24 EU regions where the share of highly skilled workers is less than a third, mainly in southeastern European countries such as Greece, Romania and Bulgaria. The lowest shares of highly skilled workers were recorded in Greece, specifically in the regions of Styria Elada/Central Greece (21.8%), the Ionian Islands (22.3%) and southeastern Romania (22.8%).
