The foreign ministers of NATO member states will meet in Brussels on April 3 and 4, 2025. The meetings will be chaired by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. According to a statement issued by the NATO headquarters, which added, "The Secretary General will speak to the media on the sidelines of the meeting.
This comes as the Secretary General of the Alliance continues his contacts and meetings, whether during his visits to other countries or inside the headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels, to prepare for the NATO summit scheduled in The Hague, Netherlands, next June. Rutte recently participated in a summit held in London that brought together a number of leaders of the European Union countries and addressed developments in the Ukrainian file and transatlantic relations.
The Secretary General of the Alliance is scheduled to receive Polish President Donald Tusk tomorrow, Thursday, in Brussels, and the defense spending file and the situation in Ukraine will be at the forefront of discussions during the meeting.
A few days ago, a statement by the Alliance said, "NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke with Donald Trump, President of the United States, and thanked the President for his commitment to a strong NATO alliance and lasting peace in Ukraine.
The President and the Secretary General discussed the urgent need for a lasting settlement regarding Ukraine. They acknowledged Ukraine’s valiant defense since the full-scale invasion in 2022, enabled by the assistance of the United States and its allies, beginning with Javelin anti-tank missiles provided by the first Trump administration. The Secretary General and the President agreed on the importance of Europe and Canada significantly increasing defense spending and defense industrial capacity, which will be highlighted at the NATO Summit in The Hague in June. They agreed to stay in close contact and meet soon.
