Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that Tehran's relations with Moscow are strategic in nature, stressing that Iran neither accepts nor recognizes the US sanctions imposed on Russia.
During his meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Thursday, he said: "Our relations are not ordinary but strategic in nature. Iran's will is to develop strategic relations with Russia in all political, economic, commercial, air and space fields."
Raisi stressed that "the Islamic Republic of Iran does not accept sanctions against Russia in any way, and we do not recognize these sanctions, and we will work to develop and strengthen our trade and economic relations with Russia."
He noted that "communication between the countries on which Washington has imposed sanctions with each other can lead to solving many problems and making these countries stronger every day."
He stressed that with the follow-ups of the joint committee of the two countries, the understandings and agreements between the two countries will be implemented expeditiously.
Referring to the US sanctions on Iran, Raisi said that America believes that any country that imposes sanctions on it will stop its development, and its understanding and perception in this matter is wrong. America has imposed sanctions on Iran for many years, but the great Iranian people have seen the sanctions and threats as an opportunity for growth and progress
