During a symposium organized by the European Council for Foreign Policy entitled "The Role of the Mediterranean in Achieving European Energy Security", Abdel-Aty addressed the axes of cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in the field of energy within the framework of national efforts to make Egypt a center for the transmission, production and distribution of energy with its various traditional, renewable and clean sources. , where he highlighted the existing and future cooperation paths, including the export of liquefied natural gas to Europe after the signing of the tripartite memorandum of understanding last June between Egypt, the European Commission and Israel, as well as the course of cooperation in the field of electrical interconnection with Greece, as well as cooperation in production and export projects Green hydrogen, highlighting the essential role of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
On the other hand, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty participated in the virtual discussion session on food security, which was held with the participation of senior officials from the European Union Commission, the European Union Foreign Service, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO, and representatives of the political consultancy FIRPA and Bayer. for industries.
The Egyptian ambassador reviewed the substantive aspects of the 27th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change next November, highlighting the importance that the Egyptian presidency attaches to the climate conference to the issues of food and water security and their relationship to climate change issues, as well as the initiatives that the Egyptian presidency will put forward for the conference, including the food initiative. Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation FAST, and the AWARE Water Resiliency Action Initiative.
The attendees agreed on the importance of Egypt as a reliable strategic partner to face the challenges of the current energy crisis in order to achieve European energy security, and stressed the need to support existing cooperation projects with Egypt in the energy field because it would achieve great and direct benefit to both parties. The participants also valued the Egyptian efforts in hosting and organizing the climate change conference in Sharm El Sheikh, and their reliance on the Egyptian presidency of the conference to come up with specific results regarding the food security file.
