White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby commented on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's first visit to Beijing.
Kirby said the United States respects Germany's right to manage its relations with China in its own way.
"We usually respect and appreciate Germany's desire to manage its bilateral relations with China in the way that seems most appropriate and appropriate," he told a news briefing.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on a one-day official visit to China, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Schulz is the first Western leader to visit China since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
