French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte arrived in the United States of America on a 3-day state visit, during which he will meet his US counterpart, Joe Biden.
France 24 news channel stated, in its English-language bulletin, that Macron's visit to America aims to shed light on the strategic relations between the two countries.
During the visit, the French president will meet US Vice President Kamala Harris at NASA headquarters in Washington to discuss space cooperation.
US officials said the choice of France for this visit reflects the historical ties between the two countries, as well as the crucial role Paris has played within the European Union in the alliance facing Russia over Ukraine.
This is the second official visit of the French president to the United States, as the first visit was in 2018 during the rule of former US President Donald Trump, and it is also his first visit during the era of Joe Biden.
It is noteworthy that the French president seeks, through this visit, to strengthen a "transatlantic partnership", which draws the consequences of the war in Ukraine and guarantees Europe a place in global competition, especially with China.
