 Today, the Belgian Public Prosecutor requested a ten-year prison term for a 36-year-old man from the Flemish city of Lier. He is being tried for the rape of an 89-year-old woman in a nursing home. The victim suffered greatly from the accident and requested euthanasia due to unbearable mental anguish. Her request was approved and her life will end on December 12th.
 According to the Belgian news agency, the defendant had infiltrated an elderly care center from a wheelchair user on July 27. He went to the bedridden victim's room and closed the door. He raped the elderly woman. But the victim managed to press the alarm button. An employee of the care center was able to open the door. The defendant was found on top of the victim and she was crying in pain and very affected. The defendant managed to escape through the park and then went to a liquor store.
