This Friday evening, the activities of the Euro-Mediterranean Film Festival will start in Brussels and will continue until the twelfth of December, in the presence of a group of artistic personalities from both sides of the Mediterranean, as well as prominent political and social figures. The film "The Blue Caftan" by Moroccan Maryam Touzani will be at the opening ceremony of the festival, and it is a joint production film with France and Belgium.
The festival's activities include the screening of dozens of films from Arab and European countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Turkey, Israel, France, Germany, Greece, Belgium and others. A number of these films will be joint productions between Arab and European countries or Arab Mediterranean countries and others outside the Mediterranean basin such as the United Arab Emirates. And the United States
These films will compete through the official competition of the festival, for which a jury comprising distinguished artistic and cinematic personalities was selected. Some of the films will be shown in other events such as "Panorama", and 17 films will be screened. The festival management said that many Mediterranean films need theaters in the West Bank. Others, so that the public can get to know more about this Mediterranean world, in addition to documentaries, concerts, lyric concerts, seminars, art exhibitions, and events that reflect the culture and arts that characterize the countries on both sides of the Mediterranean.
In this session, there will be a special section on Palestine under the title "Looks on Palestine" on the second day, "Saturday", and it will include films and artistic events about Palestine.
The opening film “The Blue Caftan” participated globally in the “Oscar” competition in its ninety-fifth session this year, and also participated in the “Un Certain Regard” competition in its 75th session of the “Cannes” Film Festival in France last May, and won the International Critics Award awarded by the festival. Maryam Al-Touzani tried to shed light, through her film, on a realistic social story that raises many questions and reveals hidden secrets about it, for people who have sexual orientations different from what is normal.
