Gas prices in Europe jump by about 10%... hours after the warnings of the head of the Russian company Gazprom

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs - agencies
Gas prices in Europe rose, in trading today, Monday, by about 10%, in light of the introduction of a European embargo on sea shipments of Russian oil to the European Union countries.

According to Russia Today, by 10:03 Moscow time, January futures contracts on the TTF index rose 9.5% to $1,611.3 per thousand cubic meters.

The blue fuel contracts had closed trading last Friday at 1471.8 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
This comes after the head of the Russian company (Gazprom), Alexei Miller, warned, on Sunday, of stopping supplies in the event of imposing a ceiling on Russian gas prices.

Miller said - according to the "Russia Today" news channel - "The attempt to set a price for Russian gas in Europe is a unilateral decision that violates the basic terms of the signed contracts."
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had said, earlier, that it is more appropriate for the United States to impose a ceiling on the price of American liquefied natural gas, rather than its contribution to the impoverishment of energy in Europe.
