NATO defense ministers to meet in Brussels

An official at the Presidential Office said Thursday that President Yoon Seok-yeol is expected to hold meetings with NATO Secretary General Jens Stollenberg and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin early next week.

The official, who requested anonymity, told Yonhap News Agency by phone that the Secretary General of NATO and the US Secretary of Defense are scheduled to visit South Korea next week, and the office will coordinate
Presidential meetings of the President with each of them.
During the meetings, President Yoon is expected to reaffirm his commitment to strengthening solidarity with the international community to face global crises. Nuclear and missile threats from North Korea and other regional and international security issues can also be discussed.

South Korea strengthened its partnership with NATO by establishing a diplomatic mission in November last year. President Yoon attended the NATO summit in June last year, becoming the first South Korean president to participate in this summit.
