On Sunday, the Ukrainian government proposed creating a mechanism to scrutinize US aid to Ukraine's rehabilitation projects, in cooperation with the US watchdog.

Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said in a statement - reported by the Ukrainian news agency "Ukrinform" in its English version - that the mechanisms and procedures for transparency and accountability in the use of funds and support that Ukraine receives for post-war recovery and reconstruction were discussed in a meeting with inspectors from the Ministry of Defense. The US State Department and the US Agency for International Development, who arrived in Kyiv to scrutinize US aid.

Kubrakov noted that a few weeks ago, the Ukrainian Cabinet decided to establish the State Agency for the Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, and among the agenda of this agency is to develop a coordination and accountability mechanism with regard to donor assistance.

"We have proposed creating a special mechanism for auditing and reviewing US aid for recovery, together with the US oversight and accountability body, in the hope that this mechanism will become an additional effective tool to ensure transparency in the use of aid coming from partners," Kubrakov added.

The Ukrainian minister thanked the United States for its leadership role in supporting Ukraine.
