Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that US airships have flown into Chinese airspace at a high altitude without permission from the Chinese authorities, more than 10 times over the past year.
"Since last year, US balloons have flown over Chinese territory more than ten times without any permission," the Chinese official added, according to the China Daily newspaper, Monday.

The Chinese spokesman did not reveal more details in this regard.

A US fighter plane shot down a Chinese balloon off the Atlantic coast after it flew over sensitive military sites where nuclear missiles and strategic bombers are stored underground.

  US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin pledged to develop the "air-space" defense system in his country, in the wake of the "Chinese balloon" incident that flew over the US sky and was recently shot down off the coast of Carolina.

This came during talks held by the US Secretary of Defense in Washington, DC, with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Adand, at the Pentagon.

According to the Pentagon statement, on Saturday, the US Secretary of Defense discussed with his Canadian counterpart the mutual commitments between the two countries in the framework of the air-space defense system and the requirements for modernizing the capacity of this joint defense system of the two countries to protect the Arctic regions and the Indian Ocean, and indicated joint investments in this regard.

The American minister appreciated the contribution of the Canadian Ministry of Defense in tracking and analyzing the trajectory of the Chinese balloon and exchanging information with the United States in this regard.

The two ministers also agreed to provide all possible support to improve the security situation in Haiti in cooperation with relevant parties in the international community and United Nations organizations.

The talks between the US Secretary of Defense and his Canadian counterpart touched on aspects of joint cooperation at the bilateral level, as well as joint cooperation at the collective level within the framework of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, to confront what the statement described as "Russian aggression against Ukraine."

The two ministers affirmed their full support for Ukraine's steadfastness, pledging to continue providing assistance that enhances its ability to defend its sovereignty and territory in the long term.
