Iraq allocates 6 billion dollars to implement multiple projects in the environment and climate

Adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister for Environment and Climate Affairs, Ali Al-Lami, confirmed that the government decided to allocate about $6 billion to implement multiple projects in the environment and climate.

Al-Lami said - in a special statement to Al-Iraqiya news channel today, Saturday - that the Iraq climate conference will be the starting point for implementing a package of projects that face the effects of climate change, adding that for the first time in the history of financial budgets in Iraq, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani allocated an item for the environment and climate in the 2023 budget. .

Al-Lami explained, "The policies of the upstream countries did not take into account Iraq's real need for water, so the effect became double, and there were no binding international agreements on this issue."
