Britain prevents an extremist Danish politician from entering its territory with the intention of burning the Qur’an

British Security Minister Tom Tugendhat has announced that Rasmus Paludan, the far-right Danish politician who threatened to burn a copy of the Koran during a visit to Yorkshire, has been denied entry to the UK.

The British newspaper “The Guardian” said that Paludan, the leader of the “Stram Course” party that was established in 2017, was added to the “index of warnings” and “will not be allowed to enter” the country.

Paludan organized several protests in which the Qur'an was burned, some of which led to violent counter-protests.

In a video posted on Twitter on Sunday, he said he planned to burn a copy of the Quran in a public square in Wakefield this week, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking in the House of Commons during Home Office questions, Labor MP Simon Lightwood raised concerns about the potential visit and protest.

MP for West Yorkshire said: "Rasmus Paludan has said he will travel from Denmark to Wakefield for the sole purpose of burning the Koran in a public place. Paludan was previously imprisoned in Denmark for his hateful and racist remarks. He is a dangerous man who should not be allowed into this country. Could the Home Secretary To assure me and my community that the government is taking action to prevent this?”

Tugendhat replied, "Palodan has been added to the index of warnings, and therefore his travel to the United Kingdom will not be conducive to the public interest and he will not be allowed entry."

In January, Paludan burned a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, which escalated into a diplomatic spat between Turkey and Sweden.

Earlier this month, police said they spoke to a schoolboy who made death threats to a boy after he caused minor damage to a copy of the Quran in Wakefield.

A tenth-grade student took the Quran to Kettlethorpe High School on February 23, with its cover slightly torn while smears of dirt were found on some pages.
