Representative Ibrahim Ayyash, an American citizen (immigrant of Yemeni origin), won the position of Leader of the Democratic Majority in the US House of Representatives in the state of Michigan.

This came after the members of the Democratic Caucus in the Michigan Legislature elected a representative of the Detroit region, Joe Tate, as Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Representative Ibrahim Ayyash, who is of Yemeni origin, as the majority leader in the state Congress. Ayyash will be the first Muslim to hold the position of majority leader, while Tate will be the first black. occupy this seat.

He served as Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce.
