The ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries to the European Union appeared carrying the “symbolic Palestinian shawl” on their shoulders during a press conference they held in the capital of Belgium and the European Union yesterday evening, Monday. The Libyan ambassador in Brussels, Jalal Al-Ashi, wrote in a post on the X website, “formerly Twitter,” saying: “I participated with the ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the European Union in Brussels, who held the joint press conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States on 11/13/23 to express our solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The Libyan ambassador published a picture of the ambassadors, all of them carrying the Palestinian symbol on their shoulders.”
The ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries accredited to Brussels called for an immediate end to the brutal and illegal Israeli aggression against the residents of Gaza, calling for the opening of humanitarian corridors to transport relief quickly and effectively.
During the press conference, the ambassadors announced, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), their refusal to target unarmed civilians, demanding an immediate ceasefire and allowing humanitarian aid to reach civilians in Gaza through international relief organizations, United Nations bodies, and the United Nations Relief and Works Organization for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). .
The ambassadors renewed their rejection of any forced displacement of the population of Gaza, calling on the European Union and its member states to work to stop the Israeli military aggression against Palestinian civilians, force Israel to immediately adhere to a ceasefire, and put an end to the occupation’s violations and war crimes against humanity committed within the occupied Palestinian territories.
