“Have you read any books, including e-books and audiobooks, in the last 12 months?” For the SILC survey organized in 2022, the Belgian statistics agency “Statbel” asked this question to a representative sample of the Belgian population aged 16 One year or older. According to what was stated in a statement issued in Brussels by the Belgian Statistics Office this Wednesday morning, and we received a copy of it.
It has been found that women read more than men. The percentage reached 67% for women who read at least one book, compared to 52% for men. They're also bigger readers: 24% have read at least 10 books in the past year, compared to 15% of men.
In terms of the total population, 60% belong to the category of readers and 19% to the category of readers of at least 10 books.
