Belgium sees 721 corporate bankruptcies in July, down 33% compared to the previous month

In July 2024, the Belgian corporate courts registered 721 bankruptcies. This represents a decrease of 33.7% compared to June 2024 (1,088).
According to what the Belgian statistical agency Statbel published an extensive report that includes the most important developments in the monthly bankruptcy figures.
"The number of bankruptcies registered in July 2024 is higher than in the same month in 2023 (+8.7%) and in 2022 (+36.6%). This is the highest value for a July in Belgium since 2019 (755).
At the regional level, the number of bankruptcies has decreased in each region compared to June 2024. In the Flemish Region and the Walloon Region, this number has increased compared to both July 2023 and July 2022. This is, by the way, the highest number of bankruptcies for July in the Flemish Region since the previous record in 2023 (426 versus 405), while one has to go back to July 2013 to find more bankruptcies in the Walloon Region for this month (244 versus 215).
Since the beginning of this year, the company courts have declared 3,791 bankruptcies in the Flemish Region. This is 7.6% higher than the previous record in 2023 (3,522).
