The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army Charles Brown will visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel in the coming days to meet with his counterparts and a number of officials to discuss the situation and tensions in the region.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US forces stated - in a statement published on its official website on Saturday - "Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza, the goals of the United States have been clear: protecting our forces, ensuring that Israel has what it needs to defend itself, and preventing the outbreak of a wider conflict."

It added, "As part of a comprehensive government approach to achieving these goals, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US communicates regularly with allies and partners in the Middle East, including a recent phone call Brown made to the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, in addition to hosting his counterpart, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates." The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US forces stated in its statement that the visit of the American general demonstrates the long-term commitment of the United States to the Middle East and enhances its understanding of the various points of view regarding the current tensions.
According to the statement, the US general is scheduled to meet with his counterparts and other officials in each country “for discussions, while continuing to emphasize the importance of de-escalating hostilities, protecting US forces in the region, supporting US support for Israel’s self-defense, and coordinating the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians.” With ceasefire negotiations ongoing, Brown’s visit reflects the importance of reaching an agreement that returns the detainees, ends the violence, and allows the entire region to focus on the next steps toward a more secure and stable Middle East.
