Non-EU countries informed Brussels of the harmonization of national laws and policies with European measures to combat terrorism

The European Union welcomed the agreement of several candidate countries for membership in the Union and also countries in the European Trade Association to harmonize national laws to comply with the specific measures to combat terrorism previously announced by the unified European bloc. According to a statement issued by the federal institutions in Brussels on Monday evening, the Council decided that the list of persons, groups and entities covered by the measures referred to in Articles 2 and 3 of Common Position 2001/931/CFSP is set out in the annex to this decision. The statement said that the candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the European Free Trade Association countries Iceland and Liechtenstein, members of the European Economic Area, agree with this Council decision.
These countries will ensure that their national policies are consistent with this Council decision.
The European Union took note of this commitment and welcomed it.
