Despite the green light.. European airlines refuse to fly to Israel

Ramallah: Agencies
Israeli media revealed, on Monday, that European airlines are still hesitant to travel to Israel, despite the decision of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to lift its recommendation against flying there, and give the green light to fly in those airspace.
The newspaper "Globus" reported that European airlines are hesitant to resume their flights to Tel Aviv because insurance companies will not provide coverage or impose high premiums. According to what was reported by the Al-Youm Al-Sabea website in Cairo from the Middle East News Agency
The Hungarian low-cost airline "Wizz Air" canceled all its flights until at least October 23, and the Polish airline "Lot" postponed all its flights until November 1.
The initial recommendation of the European Aviation Safety Agency was not to travel to Israel until the end of October, after the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
The Israeli government ministers succeeded in convincing the European Aviation Safety Agency to cancel the recommendation, but the airlines were not convinced by this recommendation and insisted on suspending their flights to Israel.
The newspaper report noted that even the Greek airline Bluebird Airways, which is partly owned by Israelis, is finding it difficult to do so in practice, due to difficulties raised by the Greek aviation authorities.

Air Europa, which had canceled its flights until the end of this month, announced that it had decided to shorten the cancellation period until October 21.

In an attempt to reach a solution to the issue in the Knesset Economic Committee last week, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority insisted that the main problem was that the flight crews did not want to spend the night in Israel, while some participants believed that the main problem was the reluctance of insurance companies to cover flights to Israel.

It is clear that in the coming period, there will be no scheduled flights for major European airlines, including the Lufthansa Group, British Airways and Air France.
