A delegation from the Egyptian Institute of Diplomatic Studies visits the European Union and NATO institutions in Brussels

A delegation of young Egyptian diplomats studying at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies from batches 55 and 56 visited Brussels during the period from October 20 to 25, 2024, in cooperation with the European Union Mission in Cairo, the NATO Public Diplomacy Department, and the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For his part, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union, and NATO, expressed his happiness to receive the delegation of young Egyptian diplomats in the Belgian capital as part of their training program, especially since the visit to Brussels provides them with a distinguished opportunity to learn about the various institutions of the European Union and their working methods, most notably the External Representation Authority, the European Commission, and the European Parliament. In addition to their visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels and the meetings they participated in with those in charge of cooperation programs with the countries of the southern neighborhood of the alliance, including Egypt.
The Egyptian Ambassador added that the delegation of the Diplomatic Institute also visited the headquarters of the European Diplomatic Academy in Bruges, and the Egmont Institute of the Belgian Foreign Ministry, where the visit program included a number of introductory and interactive lectures with a group of senior officials from the European Union, NATO and the Belgian Foreign Ministry, covering the priorities of European foreign policy, economic and trade relations and the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, in addition to the European Union's position on regional and international issues.
The delegation's meetings at NATO allowed them to learn about the history of the establishment of NATO, its priorities and positions towards current international issues and challenges.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid organized a reception at the end of the visit in honor of the delegation of young diplomats, attended by a number of senior officials from the partners who contributed to preparing the visit from the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, the European Union, NATO and the Belgian Foreign Ministry, expressing his wishes for success for the young diplomats, and praising their professionalism, interaction and aspiration for knowledge.
