The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported, citing security sources, that the United States is pressuring Tel Aviv to move to the second phase of the Gaza agreement, even before the bodies of all Israeli hostages are recovered or the remains of those who have been returned are buried. According to what was published on the website of the European news network "Euronews" in Brussels on Monday, he added, "In statements to the Qatari Al Jazeera channel, Khalil al-Hayya, the head of the Hamas movement in Gaza, said that the movement had reached an agreement with the Fatah movement to form a committee to administer the Gaza Strip, in addition to the deployment of international forces to separate and monitor the ceasefire agreement. He explained that the proposed international body would secure funding for the reconstruction of the Strip and oversee the entire process, in addition to the necessity of issuing a UN resolution regarding the international forces.
Al-Hayya confirmed that Hamas has no reservations about any national figure residing in Gaza to assume the administration of the Strip, indicating that it is prepared to hand over all powers to the committee, including the security file. He revealed that the movement had proposed to Cairo a list of more than 40 independent figures, calling for the rapid announcement of the committee that will assume its duties until elections are held or a national unity government is formed.
Regarding the cessation of the war, al-Hayya stressed that American statements confirm the end of the fighting and Israel's failure to achieve its goals, stressing that Hamas will not give Tel Aviv any justification to resume operations. He indicated that the movement had handed over 20 Israeli prisoners. He noted that 17 bodies were found, with difficulties in locating the remaining bodies. He noted that Egyptian equipment had been allowed in to assist in the search operations.
On the ground, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced injuries as a result of a drone strike targeting Palestinians in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Separately, Yisrael Beiteinu party leader Avigdor Lieberman indicated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became extremely agitated after Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's remarks, which sparked widespread outrage in Saudi Arabia. This caused confusion among his aides, who feared he would collapse.
Based on the account of one of those present, Lieberman said in an interview with the Hebrew website Walla that "the screaming from Netanyahu's office after Smotrich's statement about the camels was audible in Kedumim and all the settlements in Samaria."
He added: "Bibi screamed angrily, and they were about to call a doctor for fear he would faint. Such screaming has not been heard since the Prime Minister's Office was established."
According to Lieberman, Netanyahu's anger He feared that Smotrich's statements would harm ongoing efforts to reach a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia, noting that the minister's swift apology reflects the extent of pressure within the Israeli government. According to what was published by the Euronews website in Brussels, which added under the title "Smotrich's 'offensive' statements," the crisis began after a speech the finance minister gave at a political conference, in which he said that if Saudi Arabia insisted on establishing a Palestinian state as the price for normalization with Israel, it could "continue riding camels in the desert."
