The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported that British hospitals have stopped receiving patients, due to a strike by nurses in Britain, which will lead to the postponement of more than 1,500 surgeries next week.
The newspaper indicated that more than 100 thousand male and female nurses are participating in the strike, in 76 hospitals and NHS organizations, demanding a 19% wage increase, which was rejected by the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who described the demands as "unreasonable".
The newspaper added that today's lists of operations contain the names of 7.2 million Britons, including 400,000 who have been waiting for more than a year, and hospitals have been asked to reschedule appointments as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Health indicated that, in light of the disruption of the health sector, only cases that pose a threat to the life of the owner will be received.
The ambulance crews' strike will begin on the 21st of December, just before Christmas.
Prime Minister Sunak confirmed that the army would be used to support health services during the wave of public sector strikes, despite the anger of senior military figures.
