Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Today in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the European Union, the European Summit on the Cycling Industry and Industry in Europe (CIE) 2023 is being held. The Executive Vice President of the European Union Commission, Frans Timmermans, will deliver a keynote address, and will be joined by Karima Delli, Chair of the Transport and Tourism Committee of the European Parliament, and Minister of Transport. The Belgian, Georges Gilkennet, serves as the leading force behind the "BENELUX" declaration of cycling relative to the three countries Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, which unites national governments in support of cycling.
According to what was issued by the institutions of the unified European bloc in Brussels, at this year's summit, the focus will be on the strategy of European cycling. The summit and its CIE parties believe cycling is the answer to some of Europe's most pressing challenges, from providing zero-carbon mobility to Europe's cities and helping combat the climate emergency, to developing a resilient economy with 2 million green jobs by 2030.
And the CIE summit wants to see more bikes made in Europe and a thriving bicycle industry to accelerate Europe's green and digital transformation.
