Egypt's ambassador to Brussels, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, recently participated as a keynote speaker in two meetings on climate change, as Egypt is the current chair of the COP 27 Conference of the Parties, with the participation of high-level representatives from the UAE, the next chair of the COP 28.
According to the statements of the Egyptian ambassador to the "Europe and Arabs" website in Brussels, the first meeting was held at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the presence of the Deputy Assistant Secretary-General of the alliance and with the participation of members of the member states of the alliance, while the ambassador of the United Kingdom to the European Union hosted the second meeting in the presence of a number of ambassadors Foreign countries in Brussels".
During the two meetings, Egypt's ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union and NATO, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, presented the most prominent outputs of the Sharm El-Sheikh Climate Change Conference, in which more than 46,000 participants and about 120 heads of state and government participated, referring to the successes that have been achieved, especially with regard to the historic achievement of the agreement on Establishing a fund for losses and damages, in addition to the achievements made in terms of adaptation, mitigation and financing issues.
In his interventions, Abdel-Aty stressed the great importance of the issue of financing and the respect of developed countries for their commitments to support the green transition process in developing countries, stressing the existing coordination between Egypt and the UAE, the next president of COP 28, which will be held in Dubai before the end of this year, in order to follow up on the implementation of the outputs of the Sharm El-Sheikh conference. .
