Today, the European Commission has started the experimental test of the forest removal information system, which is an essential step to operate the list on the products free of deforestation (EUDR). The system will help operators, merchants, competent authorities and customs processing due care data. Once EUDR is fully valid, these phrases will be evidence that products are free from removal of forests and thus can be placed in the European Union market or exported from it.
100 stakeholders from all relevant sectors involved by EUDR will participate in the test that will continue until the end of January. After that, the Commission will provide a training environment and "trainers training" sessions for all companies interested in the summer of 2024, in coordination with the authorities of the member states. UNHCR will also provide user evidence and other self -learning materials such as video lessons.
