Washington: Agencies
The White House decided to cancel a high-level meeting between the United States and Israel regarding Iran that was scheduled to be held tomorrow, Thursday, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a video in which he claimed that the American administration was withholding weapons and ammunition from Israel.
The American news site Axios reported that Netanyahu announced in the video that “it is unreasonable for the administration in the past few months to withhold weapons and ammunition from Israel.”
According to the site, the White House publicly expressed its astonishment, and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted that only one shipment of weapons had been stopped since the war began, while billions of dollars in weapons flowed unimpeded. She added: “We really don’t know what he’s talking about.” about him".
Axios quoted a US official as saying that privately, the Biden team was angry and shocked by Netanyahu's "ungratefulness."
American and Israeli sources said that Biden's senior advisors were angered by the video, a message that US envoy Amos Hochstein personally delivered to Netanyahu in a meeting hours after its publication, and then the White House decided to go further by canceling Thursday's meeting.
