The European Union Naval Mission in the Red Sea "Aspidis" said, in a post on the X platform today, Monday, that the fire is still burning on the ship "Sunion", which flies the Greek flag, since August 23 after an attack by the Yemeni Houthi group.
According to the Sky News website, the European Union Naval Mission in the Red Sea said that the ship "Sunion" is still anchored at the same point in international waters.
The mission explained that there are no clear indications of an oil leak from the ship "Sunion".
Last Wednesday, 3 projectiles hit the oil tanker "Sunion" off the coast of the city of Hodeidah in western Yemen, which led to a fire on board and the loss of engine power, according to the "UKMTO" agency, which is run by the British Navy.
The Houthis said that they targeted the ship with drones and missiles.
The European mission indicated that the ship Sunion, "carrying 150,000 tons of crude oil, now poses a navigational and environmental hazard," stressing "the need for everyone in the region to exercise caution and refrain from any actions that could lead to a deterioration of the current situation."
