Every year, the city of Arnhem hosts a breakfast event organized by the municipality under the supervision of Mayor Ahmed Marcouch. This breakfast is dedicated to primary school students to encourage them to eat this daily meal, given its direct impact on health and learning ability.
A special breakfast was organized at the Ibn Sina School, where eighth-grade students were welcomed.
When Mayor Ahmed Marcouch asked the students about their habits, Omar Salim replied that he had no desire for breakfast and that his parents did not eat the meal either.
Breakfast aids in concentration and academic achievement, countering the drop in blood sugar levels that occurs after a long night's sleep.
Eating this meal restores balance to these levels, fostering focus in the classroom and providing the energy needed for movement, play, and participation in school activities—free from fatigue or lethargy—while also improving mood and behavior.
Mayor Ahmed Marcouch—a tireless figure—personally oversees this initiative. The program also highlights the importance of morning hygiene and the role of prayer in disciplining the self and improving mood and behavior. Students who eat breakfast are less prone to irritability, stress, or exhaustion, and conversely, their ability to concentrate is enhanced.
