In Brussels, an agreement was announced between Belgium and Britain to enhance joint work and cooperation. Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre Decroux said in a tweet on Twitter that he spoke with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and they agreed to work more closely to stop illegal immigration and strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the field of energy.
"Belgium and Britain are old friends and close allies," Decroux added
It is noteworthy that there are security operations carried out by the Belgian police from time to time to stop illegal immigration attempts from the Belgian port of Ostand to the British shores, and many mass smuggling operations of people through trucks and ships have previously been spoiled.
In the field of energy, last July, Energy Minister Tini van der Straeten reassured Belgium about the supply of natural gas after it dealt with news reports stating that the British government would reduce its natural gas exports to the European continent if the energy crisis worsened and the country faced a shortage.
The United Kingdom transports gas to the continent through gas pipelines that connect the Netherlands and Belgium.
On the occasion of the 16th Belgian-British Conference in Brussels, Energy Minister Tini van der Straeten and her British counterpart Kwasi Quarting indicated that Belgium and the United Kingdom will continue to cooperate closely.
