"The past year 2022 has shown once again that there is no challenge that we cannot meet if we act and unite," said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission based in Brussels.
"This is why we must enter 2023 with confidence and determination," the senior European official added on LinkedIn.
The President of the European Union's executive body stressed the importance of confidence in the collective strength of the unified European bloc and the determination to defend common European values.
She concluded by saying, "I wish you all a very Happy New Year."
