Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The European Union expressed its concern about the measures taken by the United States that restrict access to exports of advanced artificial intelligence chips to selected EU member states and their companies.
According to a statement issued by the EU executive in Brussels by Executive Vice President Heina Virkonen, in charge of technology, security and democracy files, and Commissioner Maros Šefčović, in charge of trade, economic security, inter-institutional relations and transparency files
The joint statement said, "We believe that it is in the economic and security interest of the United States as well that the European Union buys advanced artificial intelligence chips from the United States without restrictions: we cooperate closely, especially in the field of security, and represent an economic opportunity for the United States, not a security risk.
We have already shared our concerns with the current US administration and look forward to constructive engagement with the next US administration. We are confident that we can find a way to keep the transatlantic supply chain secure for AI technology and supercomputers, for the benefit of our companies and citizens on both sides of the Atlantic.
