I went through the experience of giving up a car or a car, as we say in Egypt, for several months. It was not difficult for reasons including that the city in which I currently live is small and modern taxi service is available through the Uber phone application. Life without an Arab is not impossible in certain circumstances, and there are pros and cons to the issue.
Increasing movement and physical activity is one of these clear positives, but with the intensification of summer heat, the positives quickly evaporate.
Far from the comfort of the body and the ease of movement in a private Arabic, another beautiful aspect appeared in the matter, as I used to stop on my way to work in the morning to buy a morning coffee that adjusts the mood, as they say, and my request was constant and did not change except rarely. To enter The employee or employee enters your request on the computer without asking it verbally. They remind me of when I used to go to a popular cafe in Egypt and get the usual shisha without me asking for it.
How happy it was when I entered the coffee shop after three months of absence, and the working girl surprised me with a smile and welcome, saying, "Welcome back, it looks like you've been on a long vacation!" In my country like this, where are you absent from a long time ago?
Hours later, I thought about this situation. Isn't it nice to live in a place where someone knows you? Even if it was in your absence? Building human relationships with those around you is not easy and invaluable. If every person among us, at least from the pre-millennium generation, searches, he will find this social aspect, when the grocer, the vegetable seller, the humorist, even the street vendor knew you well and asked about you in your absence. Rather, that was a good factor for building a social safety net and sufficient confidence in various dealings.
Perhaps the changes of time are rapid, and the social behavior imposed by technology may end these intimate transactions between people, but they still exist and it is better for us to stick to a few of them as long as we are alive.
