The statement explained that before traveling to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Borrell will be in Hanoi on Thursday to attend the official funeral of Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong.
Tomorrow, Friday, Borrell will visit Vientiane to co-chair the annual EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, alongside Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo. At this meeting, the EU and ASEAN will review the progress achieved under the EU-ASEAN Action Plan 2023-2027. Ministers will also discuss how to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the areas of trade, climate change and security.
On Saturday, Borrell will represent the EU at the 31st Ministerial Forum of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), chaired by the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will participate alongside the other 17 members of the forum to exchange views on a number of regional and global security issues.
During his visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, High Representative Borrell will hold bilateral meetings with international and regional interlocutors.
