After the increase in projects competing with the ancient Egyptian Suez Canal for 155 years, during which it was and still is a very important vital artery for cargo ships, gas and oil tankers, commercial transport, and military naval fleets of countries around the world.
This threatens Egypt’s large incomes from the international channel’s revenues in hard currency such as the dollar, the euro, and the basket of foreign currencies that the Egyptian economy currently desperately needs in light of the chronic dollar crisis.
In order to preserve the sacrifices of our ancestors in digging the Suez Canal, including the thousands who died while digging it (and forced labor) with simple equipment and tools, with French management by engineer Ferdinand de Lesseps.
The idea of digging the canal came from Khedive Ismail, the ruler of Egypt at the time, which led to an increase in Egypt’s foreign debts, and its effects were exacerbated by the occupation of Britain’s military army and its high commissioner to Egypt in 1882.
Only a few years after the legendary opening of the canal in the presence of European kings and princesses, including Princess Eugenie and Khedive Said
I have an idea and an out-of-the-box proposal, which is to compete with ourselves before others compete with us and stifle our developing economy and block Israel’s projects to dig a sea canal (Ben Gurion) from Eilat on the Red Sea to Ashkelon on the Mediterranean, which, if implemented, will threaten the value and importance of the Egyptian Suez Canal. The decline of its dollar revenues, which are very vital to Egypt’s economy, with the Silk Road project to link India and China with Europe via the countries of West Asia, and the land-sea route to link India with the Emirates to Europe via Jordan and Israel as well, in the line of a new life that will prolong the life of the hateful occupation of our occupied Arab land, especially after The bloody massacres and massacres in its war on the Gaza Strip
Likewise, the dismemberment of the Palestinians in the West Bank and the occupied Arab cities
Egypt lost revenues from the Suez Canal during nine full years due to the war, the setback of 1967, and Israel’s occupation of the Egyptian Sinai until its liberation in 1973, and the martyr President Anwar Sadat reopened it for maritime navigation on 6/5/1975.
The idea, in short, is to compete with ourselves and improve the quality of our logistical navigation services, especially with the establishment of the special zone for the development of the Suez Canal Bay with the completion of the first phase of the new Egyptian administrative capital.
Meaning taking advantage of our unique geographical location geographically and historically after the liberation of the Pure Land of Sinai from the Israeli occupation 40 years ago in 1982 after the Camp David Peace Treaty with Israel (Occupied Palestine )
A completely “new” Egyptian canal was dug on the Gulf of Aqaba within the Egyptian borders and lands in the Sinai Peninsula, linking Taba or Nuweiba on the Red Sea to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish on the Mediterranean.
Including another branch to the city of Port Fouad on the continent of Asia, which meets the other canal in Port Said on the continent of Africa.
We have tremendous experience and capabilities in digging canals and tunnels, such as the Tahya Misr tunnels under the Suez Canal to alleviate the burden of the Martyr Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel.
And with the political will of President Sisi to build a strong Egypt that conquers its enemies and compassion for its children and friends after we succeeded in digging the new canal branch in just two years and it was opened on 8/6/2015 in the presence of kings and heads of state around the world, including French President François Hollande.
Implementing this global national project while working to speed up the implementation of the King Salman Bridge/Tunnel project to connect the continents of Asia with Africa to serve the movement of goods, individuals, pilgrims and Umrah from the continent of Africa to the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina.
This project will achieve tremendous popularity for contracting companies and experienced and trained Egyptian workers
And very huge military, security and economic strategic gains for the benefit of the Egyptian people and army
It also gives commercial ships additional options to pass through any of them according to their itinerary and needs to save time, effort and money instead of going around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, which takes more than a month and raises the costs of loading and unloading. The project is funded by our brothers in the Arabian Gulf and the Islamic world or with soft financing from Monetary Fund and World Bank
The result of this ambitious project will change the form of life in Sinai and all of Egypt with the construction of ten new cities in central and northern Sinai, as happened with five new cities (Port Tawfiq, Suez, Port Said, Ismailia, and Port Fouad) that appeared on the canal line 150 years ago.
Note that the Suez Canal was a direct cause of the oil boom and construction in the Arab Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, because without it, development and the boom in building towers and skyscrapers in Dubai, Qatar, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and others would have been delayed and others.
Egypt's historical and strategic importance must keep the strongest and most efficient in operation and technical management
This is what we witnessed in the incident of the sinking of the Evergiven ship, which held the world's breath in just one week
The men of the Suez Canal Authority have always succeeded in floating the largest giant cargo ship in the world with a capacity of a quarter of a million cargo containers.
In cooperation with countries friendly to Egypt, such as Japan and the Netherlands, which are the best in the world in marine engineering, canal digging engineering, and even filling the sea (half the area of the Netherlands) and building giant cities on it, such as Palm Dubai, Jumeirah, and the World Islands.
In conclusion, I hope that this “project” proposal will receive acceptance and personal attention from Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian government, especially the Ministry of Planning, led by Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, and the distinguished ministers and representatives of the people in Parliament must follow up on this with all seriousness and interest and present it to all executive authorities for technical and engineering study to realize it on the ground. In reality, in the foreseeable future, the digging of the old canal was a direct cause of the occupation of Egypt by the British, and the closing of the Straits of Tiran and the Gulf of Aqaba by President Gamal Abdel Nasser was a direct cause of the 1967 setback. But the digging of the new Aqaba Canal is also a direct reason for liberating Egypt and its people with free and fair national leadership to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030.
