Jumai, the other side of Sonko... Written by the Islamic thinker, Professor Muhammad Galai Injay, Director of the Mihrab Institute in Brussels,

The choice of Mr. Bashir Gumayfaye by Leader Othman Sonko to be the spearhead instead of him to fight the battle for the next elections scheduled to be held on February 25, 2024 AD, is from our point of view a very successful choice on various levels, for many reasons that we can summarize in the following ten points:
1. Politicians as well as ordinary Senegalese voters, the majority of whom were afraid or ashamed to join the ranks of leader Ousmane Sonko for the sake of the aura of violence, the dark, skeptical rhetoric, and the rhetoric of “warmongers” (va-t-en-guerre), which threw It is all falsely and slanderously on his shoulders. It will be very easy for all of them, most of them, or some of them, to join Bashir Gumay’s character, who is known for his poise and sobriety.
2. All those who hesitated to approach the Bastif party or were afraid of the lack of a glimmer of hope or a bright future for the oppositionist Ousmane Sonko, whom the government has embroiled in labyrinths and pitfalls from which few can escape. If Gumay was chosen, there is no doubt that it would be convenient for them to join his group without fear. And ashamed. The least argument these people have if they want to justify their position is to say that our choice is based on the fact that Gumay is not Sonko for us, and Sonko is not Gumay.
3. If you ask a man in the street: Is Gumai Sonko? He will respond without hesitation in the affirmative. From this standpoint, we realize that there is complete certainty among the Basatafa that Gomay and Sonko are two sides of the same coin. Voting for the first is the same as voting for the other.
4. It seems to many that Gumay is calmer, more balanced, and even more intellectually focused than Leader Sonko in his speeches and political statements. This is an important factor for bringing together the diaspora, as well as for creating alliances with other parties and cadres, even if their stripes differ. Fighting election battles requires approaching matters like a “night lumberjack,” collecting the dung and the fat, and after winning, arranging the house’s furniture from the inside. Anyone you dispense with along the way is a loss to you, because if someone else were to vote for you, he would be against you and thus decrease your balance.
5. The presence of Djomay and Sonko behind bars as oppressed people in the imagination of the people, or most of them, will inevitably constitute a major factor in softening the hearts of the Senegalese towards them, and thus will attract them to sympathize with them and try to support them and sacrifice for them, even if only to get them out of prison.
6. You will not find anyone who knows Gumayi or has been in contact with him, even for a short period of time, who doubts his academic competence and sufficient experience to head the state, as he - as Leader Sonko Atteh said - is capable of operating the state apparatus immediately after his election and accession to power.
7. Jumay is a humble and religious person. He speaks little and remains silent a lot. He works a lot and speaks little. These are, without a doubt, good qualities that fall under the characteristics of successful leadership.
8. Gumay is the other side of Sonko in the cleanliness of his hands and the integrity of his bank accounts. He has never been accused of any kind of theft or embezzlement of people’s money, and he worked for 20 years as a senior employee and veteran administrator in the state in the tax and real estate department. Senegal, at the present time, more than ever, needs clean and safe hands due to the political and economic challenges it faces, the most important of which is national sovereignty and the management of the wealth that its land contains, such as oil and gas, etc.
9. Jumay knows the Pastev Party as well as he knows his pocket. He is one of its founding members. He also knows its history and path, and for its success and brilliance he has met what he did not find bread in a bakery.
10. He does not deny that Gomay is a trustworthy person, who enjoys credibility and integrity in the eyes of those who knew him closely, and therefore it does not occur to anyone that he is capable of betraying the project or compromising with it, whatever the cost, or betraying the great trust placed in him by his close friend and comrade. The trail, I mean, named his son, Ousmane Sonko. Jumay, at this historical moment, knows with certainty that he represents hope and the future. The best thing that can be said about him is that he did not mingle with the people of the regime, nor was he tainted by their political maneuvers, nor was he desecrated by their ethnic and electoral promises.
That's a full ten for anyone who wants to be convinced that Gumay is Sonko, and Sonko is Gumay. Without hesitation, it is a truly successful choice, very comfortable, and agreed upon from prisoner to prisoner. Yes! Certainly, the victory of Allah is near.
